The most common essential oil, Lavender, has so many benefits and uses. Lavender Oil can provide a calming and relaxing effect. It’s considered a nervous system restorative helping with inner peace, sleep, restlessness, irritability, panic attacks, nervous stomach and nervous tension.

Rose oil is another favorite of mine.  Rose oil is very settling to the emotional heart. It relieves anxiety, depression and helps with grieving and shock.

Behavioral research by Rutgers University, shows that nature provides us with a simple way to improve emotional health from the aroma of flowers.   "What's most exciting about this study is that it challenges established scientific beliefs about how people can manage their day-to-day moods in a healthy and natural way," said Jeannette Haviland-Jones, Ph.D., Professor of Psychology at Rutgers and lead researcher on the study.

Just 10 minutes and Rose oil, in a foot bath, washes all of the stress of my day away. Love it!

The peaceful and calming scent of Chamomile oil decreases irritability, overthinking, anxiety and worry.  Studies have shown that Chamomile may reduce antidepressant activity.  

People with ragweed allergies, like me, should make sure Chamomile oil doesn’t increase the effect of the ragweed sensitivity before using the oil .

Wonderful Scents Frankincense Essential Oil

Frankincense oil is great for treating depression and anxiety.  It provides a  calming effect, tranquil energy, and spiritual grounding.  Frankincense diffused helps deepen meditation and helps to quiet the mind.

Keimyung University in Korea is using a  mix Frankincense, Bergamot, and Lavender oils in a 1:1 ratio to massage hospice patients.  This study has shown that this  blend of essential oils has had a positive effect on pain and depression in hospice patients with terminal cancer.

So don’t sweat the it!  Diffuse it, Blend it, Massage it, and make your day a calmer one with essential oils!

Bergamot oil is found in Earl Grey tea and has a distinctive floral taste and aroma. Bergamot is calming and often used to treat depression by providing energy. Bergamot oil has also been used to help with insomnia,  relaxation, and agitation.

Bergamot oil blended with other stress reducing oils, like Lavender, creates a nice relaxing blend to diffuse that my whole family enjoys.
